Quarantine Update - Liz Costello

If you’ve been getting your hair done at Modern Tekniques for some time now, you’ll probably remember me from when I washed your hair!

I have been with the salon for 2 years now, which I started at as an assistant while in cosmetology school and I am now the salon’s newest stylist! 

Many of us are feeling trapped during this quarantine and unfortunately, this may only be the beginning.

Though I find that while we are getting through this, it is important to stay positive (and healthy!)

Rather than hating the fact that we are stuck inside, I’m appreciating the fact that I have finally been giving the gift of time.

On a typical day to day basis, many people find it difficult to find time for themselves. We often find ourselves caught up with work, homework, caring for our families, (etc.) and neglect to spend time with ourselves.

This may be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Now is the time to try something new that you always wished you “had the time” to do! 

For me, that thing is cooking. Being that I still live at home, my mom often cooks for my brother and me, or I go out and grab food with friends. I’ve always been a picky eater, so I've never cared to learn how to cook. I have been staying with my boyfriend during the quarantine though, and I’ve found that now is the time to learn how (and have fun while doing so!)  

Your “thing” may be different than mine, but I hope this can inspire you to try something new and use this time wisely! We can’t control what is happening outside, but we can control what we choose to do with this time we’ve been given.
