This is one of my favorite quotes by John Maxwell on what a great leader represents.
Most of you that know me personally or are clients at our salon know that my main mission in life is to empower, lift, and lead others to achieve greater levels of success. This mission has become a key foundation in our salon's culture, where as a team we focus on growth in all areas of our lives. This type of leadership has allowed us to create and maintain an environment where our stylists continue to grow not only in their skills and talents but also their mindsets.
I will be the first to admit that learning to manage people was the hardest task of all because people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
I will also admit that in the beginning I was focused on the wrong things. I had to learn to be a leader who was also a servant.
While I've certainly grown a lot as a business owner and mentor over these last few years I can also say in full confidence that all of our team members at Modern Tekniques have as well. One of my greatest joys as a business owner is to coach and mentor my team in ways that help them learn, grow, and stretch into the best versions of themselves.
In taking the time to personally coach and mentor each member of my team we have shared many memories that helped create a bond that surpasses the average owner/employee relationship. Those that have been with me from the very beginning of my journey hold an extra special place in my heart, they have stood strong by my side even in my early days of "figuring things out". We've laughed, we've cried, we've shared....but most importantly we've grown together in love.
Now, there is always a double edge sword when you start empowering people from a place of love because you do this with the understanding that you agree to help them to fly their wings, no matter what the direction.
Sometimes we love people so much that we could never imagine them not in the position they are currently living within our lives, but God knows bigger and it's in those instances that we must learn to let go in complete love.
When you think about it, it really is quite a beautiful thing...
As a leader my main focus is to lift, lead, and empower others into knowing that they are capable of achieving great success. So when someone I've mentored for years, someone who has taken the time to develop not only her skills but also her mindset, came to me and told me that she was presented with an opportunity to further her growth I was thrilled in knowing that all the work that we had put in together for years was allowing her the strength, confidence, and courage to pursue her dreams.
Gina has been more than just a Modern Tekniques team member, she's been a friend to every client and family member to our staff. Her sweet and gentle spirit will be missed but we are all so excited for her to pursue the wonderful opportunity of taking over her own Salon Suite.
I am so blessed for the time we've spent together and I am so incredibly proud of the amazing stylist and beautiful person she continues to become. I know that Gina will continue reaching for the stars and succeed in everything she puts her mind to.
As a team we send her off with so much love and support.
No matter where she goes, she will always be part of the Modern Tekniques Family.
