A Thanksgiving Reflection from Modern Tekniques Family & Coach Kimmy

As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to pause with you right here, right now, before the rush of the holidays, the appointments, and the busy days ahead.

Because this season isn’t just about the food, the travel, or even a beautiful blowout (though we’ll never say no to great hair!) It’s about gratitude. That deep, soul-level thankfulness that doesn’t just change how we feel… it changes who we are.

Studies have shown that when people express gratitude, their brainwaves literally shift. The energy of the body changes. Heart rate steadies. Stress lowers. Even our cells respond. Gratitude raises the emotional frequency of the body to match the very same vibrations as joy, peace, and love and we can feel it.

💛 When we stop picking apart what we don’t like about our hair…

💛 When we stop comparing our homes, our bodies, our stories to others…

💛 When we stop saying “not enough” and start saying, “thank You, Lord”…

Something inside us softens. Heals. Flourishes.

Gratitude in the Mirror

As a hair salon, we see it every day how hard people can be on themselves. “My hair isn’t thick enough.” “I wish mine curled like hers.” “I hate this part of me.”

But what if just for this season we flipped the script?

✨ Thank You for the hair I do have.

✨ Thank You that I can choose a style, a color, a cut that expresses who I am.

✨ Thank You for the ability to care for myself, invest in myself, and grow into the best version of me.

Because self-love isn’t selfish it’s sacred.

When we care for ourselves, we overflow into others. Gratitude turns neediness into generosity, and comparison into contentment.

We Are Blessed — Right Here in New Jersey

I recently spent 10 incredible days in Italy with my best friend, and it was absolutely stunning the scenery, the food, the history, the beauty everywhere you look. But while I was there, something surprising happened… I started to miss home.

Because as breathtaking as Italy was, New Jersey is its own kind of beautiful.

This state is filled with so much life and abundance beaches, farms, faith, fashion, and some of the best food on the planet! You can eat clean, gourmet, vegan, or good old-fashioned comfort food all within the same mile.

But most of all, New Jersey is where my heart is where my family, friends, and clients are. It’s where my salon family gathers, where laughter fills the air, and where my life is rich with love and purpose.

Italy reminded me that while adventure fills the soul, home fills the heart.

And I truly love my life right here in New Jersey.

We are blessed.

And when we recognize it we become a blessing.

Because gratitude always wants to give.

At Modern Tekniques, we believe gratitude grows when it’s shared. So this Thanksgiving season, we’re partnering with Project PAUL in Keansburg to bless local families in need.

We’re collecting non-perishable food items, pantry staples, and Thanksgiving favorites to fill Blessing Baskets for families right here in our community who could use a little extra love this season.
